TÜV Rheinland of North America Completes NCBCC Accreditation Expansion

TÜV Rheinland attains approval in new categories including Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Locations and Food Preparation Machines

LITTLETON, Mass., Aug. 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TÜV Rheinland, a testing and certification leader at the forefront of interoperability, performance and safety in the globally connected world, today announced it has completed an accreditation expansion for the State of North Carolina. The North Carolina National Building Codes Council (NCBCC) accreditation expansion includes the Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Locations and Food Preparation Machines categories, and adds to the existing TÜV Rheinland approved categories in North Carolina.

TÜV Rheinland will now be listed on the NCBCC list as an approved testing laboratory for equipment categories 7-9, 11-14, 16, 26-29, 31, 40, 43, 47-48 and 50. This is a very helpful resource for electrical inspectors and equipment buyers to verify that a testing facility can accommodate the category of listed or labeled equipment. This ensures that any listed or labeled equipment will be accepted by the facility owner or Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

“We are pleased to be expanding our NCBCC accreditation,” said Gregory Smith, Field Evaluation Program Manager and Sr. Field Evaluation Inspector of TÜV Rheinland. “In particular, adding the Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Locations category is a major milestone for TÜV Rheinland. Less than half of the currently accredited testing laboratories are approved in this category, positioning us well to continue to provide the highest quality assurance across the board.”

North Carolina audits and accredits testing laboratories independent of any other local or national accreditations. The NCBCC list of approved laboratories is maintained and audited by the NC Department of Insurance, Office of the State Fire Marshall Engineering Division, and the list is approved by the North Carolina Building Codes Council. This accreditation expansion audit was performed at TÜV Rheinland’s Youngsville, NC laboratory.
