João Lourenço urged for work to make diplomacy more efficient, enhance the country's good image, attracting foreign private investment and promote Angola as a tourist destination.

The President said that the achievement of these goals entails good use of resources, reducing diplomatic and consular missions and, therefore, the staffing.

No tolerance for poor management of finance and property, not even nepotism by some officials of the Ministry itself or heads of diplomatic missions, will be allowed in this new era, he stressed.

The President of the Republic directed the urgent updating of the list of the entities entitled to use the diplomatic passport.

The measure is intended to lent valued to this document with international validity.

"The authorities will certainly have to collect or at least not renew a number of passports held by citizens, until it proves otherwise that they do not exercise, have never exercised or have ceased to perform any function that entitles them to be holders of it," he said.

Defending work on a radical change in the management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President asked the minister and his team for a thrift and exemplary management of the funds and assets of the institution, both in Angola and abroad.

The meeting gathers 59 heads of diplomatic missions representing Angola in America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
