ROANOKE – Three people die from opioid overdoses each day in Virginia. Dozens more are treated in emergency rooms across the state. Local and international experts will gather at the University of Virginia to share ideas on how to tackle the opioid epidemic. The conference will focus on solutions developed by community members and health care professionals. The event will feature speakers from UVA, Virginia Commonwealth University, the Virginia Department of Health and others.

St. John Neumann Academy in Blacksburg is dedicating its new school this morning. Construction was on schedule, just eleven months after breaking ground. The new school building and site will allow for growth in enrollment of its Preschool - 8th Grade classes and includes a multipurpose room with stage, sixteen classrooms, a technology learning lab, chapel and school playground.
